Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck, September 26, 1926 - October 18, 2000) is an American actress and singer who spanned over 40 years. London was a torch performer, known for her smooth, soft vocals. She recorded over 30 albums of jazz and pop songs from 1955 until 1969. The first time she was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame was her rendition of "Cry Me a River" the song she introduced in her debut album. London was nominated in 1974 to the Golden Globe Award as a actress for her role in Emergency! of Dixie McCall. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's acting career of 35 years began in film in 1944. It featured roles as the female lead in various westerns. In the mid-1950s she signed a recording deal with Liberty Records, marking the beginning of her professional career. The album she recorded her final studio album released in the year 1969. She continued to be a hit as the female character in the role of Dixie McCall on the television series Emergency! (1972-1979) during which she appeared alongside her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
